Job Details

MCN – the world’s biggest motorcycling weekly – is searching for a new Deputy Editor.

Every week MCN delivers the hottest news, reviews, industry-leading in-depth tests, launch reports, captivating features and a wealth of reader-targeted community content – both in print and through its online channels. MCN is the UK’s only publication with its finger wedged firmly over the pulse of motorcycling – and this is your opportunity to fulfil a significant role in its development and production.

As Deputy Editor you will have an unquenchable thirst for news, a diverse and unquenchable enthusiasm for motorbikes and an affinity for the people who ride them.

You will be able to demonstrate first-class magazine craft, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work as a key linchpin within this highly determined, driven, and creative team.

Above all you will have an unswerving dedication to making every issue of MCN better than the previous week, complete commitment to making and managing exceptional content, and the ability to inspire and lead this tight-knit team.

The role is full-time and based at Bauer Magazine Media, Media House, Peterborough.

To apply, please send Richard Newland, Editor, an explanation of what excites you about this opportunity, five great ideas for the further development of MCN and your CV, by completing the application form below.

Company

Who we are and what we do

In the UK we reach 25 million consumers through our portfolio which includes heat, KISS, Grazia, Empire, Motor Cycle News, Parkers, TV Choice, Take a Break, Bella, Magic and Absolute Radio.

We believe that our scale, coupled with the breadth of our portfolio, gives us an advantage over pure play magazine or radio competitors. It also gives us a huge responsibility - our brands become the lens through which our audiences see the world, and for this reason, we take our responsibilities as a media outlet very seriously, recognising that we are responsible for shaping perceptions in the wider world.

Working at Bauer Media

Quite simply, our promise to you is that Bauer Media is a great place to do great work with great people.

Our people take an enormous amount of pride in the brands they support. They like their team members, and they feel supported by their managers. We all take collective responsibility for our culture, because we know it has a ripple effect across our brands.

That’s why our culture of inclusion at work, Belonging at Bauer, is at the heart of everything we do.

Belonging at Bauer is about our dual goals of being as representative as we can of the audiences we serve, and about creating a working environment where all our people feel able to bring their whole selves to work every day.

It’s part of everything we do, and everyone who works here is responsible. If you join us, you’ll be an important part of this as well.

Our Commitment to Inclusivity at Work

Inclusion is one of our core values at Bauer Media, and we want to make sure that everyone who works with us feels they belong at Bauer. We want a level playing field for anyone who wants to come and work at Bauer.

Therefore, if you require any adjustments to an interview process, please feel free to get in touch with HR.administration@bauermedia.co.uk who will be happy to talk through any adjustments you need in complete confidence and make arrangements on your behalf.

Adjustments can be whatever you need them to be, whether that’s around accessibility, preparation time and space, or just travel expenses to get you to the interview. Let us know what you need, and we’ll do everything we can to make sure you’re getting a fair opportunity to succeed.

We also know that know that the traditional 9-5, five days a week doesn’t suit everyone. So, we’d love to hear from you if you feel you’re a great fit for this role and would like to work flexibly. If you are the right person for a role in our business, we’ll find the right working approach for you.

Our work on mental health at work

We’re proud to be the driving force behind the “Where’s your head at?” campaign, which is working to put Mental Health First Aiders on an equal footing with traditional workplace first aiders. We have Mental Health First Aiders working across the majority of our UK locations, and will have 100% coverage by the end of 2019.
