The Role:
The Times and The Sunday Times are seeking an individual with experience in information taxonomy/metadata organisation or library science to help to manage the classification technology used to support the discovery of our journalism on all platforms.
You will be responsible for maintaining our internal and reader-facing taxonomy, anticipating the news agenda and helping to structure our metadata to power a great reader experience while also being part of a wider team tasked with engaging our growing readership.
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
- Is passionate about metadata and the news
- Cares that readers have great digital news experiences
- Understands the impact of having good metadata to underpin and create amazing digital products
Experience and skills we would like to see:
- Previous experience in content classification and/or taxonomy management
- Experience working with auto-tagging technology (either rule-based or machine-learning)
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple teams and with various stakeholders
- Knowledge of and experience with news industry metadata standards
- Superb verbal and written communication skills
- Expert proofreading, communication, organisational and research skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team-mates. Self-disciplined when working alone
