The Wall Street Journal is looking for a supervising producer to help oversee production of video and audio coverage in our London hub. Top candidates for this position will demonstrate excellent editorial, production and team-management skills.

We are looking for a strong editor and journalist with experience covering business, economics and markets news, with a deep knowledge of U.S. and global politics.

In this position, you will lead a small team of video and audio producers to produce coverage that stands out in the 24/7 information cycle. Because our London office leads the U.S. day, early mornings and deadline pressure is a constant in our newsroom, so an ability to react quickly is essential.

We are looking for candidates who are invigorated by being constantly up-to-date on the news of the day and are able to bring this information to our audience quickly by working with WSJ's reporters and editors across a variety of coverage areas and bureaus.

You Will:

  • Propose new and original ideas for timely coverage on a daily basis
  • Work with the international executive producer to lead a small team of video and audio journalists to produce relevant coverage of interest to The Wall Street Journal audience
  • Coach beat reporters and news editors to appear on camera or in podcasts
  • Work with video and audio journalists to hone story angles and strengthen scripts
  • Research, write and produce coverage on a regular basis
  • Provide clear, timely and productive notes on scripts and projects in edit
  • Ensure that all journalistic and legal standards are followed
  • Be able to work late hours and weekends as part of a regular rotation and as news developments and time zone considerations may warrant


You Have:

  • At least six years of experience working in a daily news environment
  • A deep understanding of business and markets trends, regional news, culture and politics
  • Experience producing compelling business, tech and political coverage under tight deadline constraints
  • Experience translating complex business and economics stories into reporting that informs WSJ's core subscriber base and appeals to broader audiences
  • The ability to communicate clearly and collaborate easily with others
  • Exceptional writing skills
