Aceville Publications is looking for an experienced, self-motivated and commercial editor to join our department of successful consumer and B2B food brands.

Under the brief and direction of the Group Editor, the successful candidate will be responsible for all editorial content for Great British Food, including (and not limited to) a quarterly consumer print magazine, website content, awards marketing, social media and newsletters.

They will already be an experienced journalist and talented writer who has already held a senior position on a title and must be able to demonstrate a strong commercial awareness of what makes a consumer title successful in 2021, as well as the ability to write relevant, knowledgeable and entertaining content to cement the brand as a must-read for food lovers, home cooks and British food affectionados.

An eye for a strong image and design, and the ability to excite and entertain the audience with both written and visual flair is vital in this role.

An ability to seize opportunities for data capture and online engagement, and to generate revenue-friendly ideas to support a motivated advertising team is important, as is staying on top of industry trends and news affecting the trade.

Equipped with a friendly, personable and professional attitude and a desire to be active and visible in the British food industry, the job also requires a person who is prepared to be a good ambassador for the brand.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate they can be confident, approachable, professional and effective when representing the brand at events, meetings and to our growing panel of expert/celebrity judges, trade partners and prize-winning producers.

A knowledge of the British food industry, in particular an interest in artisanal food and drink, is desirable.

This is a management position with a contract end date of November 2021.

Requirements:

  • Qualified journalist (or educated to degree level) with experience working in a senior role, ideally on a consumer magazine brand.
  • Accomplished social media and SEO expert-well-accustomed to using analytical tools and scheduling systems.
  • An excellent copywriter, sub and proof reader
  • Must be able to show examples of high performing published work for print and online
  • Competent using Google Drive, Word Press, Canva and InCopy
