Description

China Dialogue seeks an experienced editor to join its growing London team and spearhead the development of its coverage of the Asia Pacific region beyond China: South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

The ideal candidate would have a keen interest in climate change and the environment in the region, particularly South Asia, the Himalayan region, or Southeast Asia.

The ideal candidate would be proactive, highly organised and self-motivated, with a strong track record in journalism, research or campaigns, with experience of managing investigative research projects, excellent writing, editing and verbal communications skills, an aptitude for digital technologies, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to motivate and lead a team.

About us

China Dialogue has a 15-year track record of commissioning and publishing high-quality information, and promoting communication on environment and climate change in Chinese and English and, on our sister sites, a total of eight languages.

We support open discussion, with the aim of informing international and Chinese readers and contributing to equitable and constructive solutions to global environmental problems.

The candidate would also lead the editorial team of The Third Pole, a multilingual website publishing news and analysis about Asia’s climate crisis and its global implications.

The Third Pole takes a regional perspective on the challenges posed by climate change and related issues, with editors based in China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Southeast and Central Asia, as well as a strong network of experts, policymakers and journalists across the region.

China Dialogue also works closely with its other sister websites – China Dialogue Ocean and Diálogo Chino.

Taking a strategic regional perspective of our work in the Asia Pacific, the successful candidate will work to deepen these relationships, drawing on the resources we have established over the past decade to generate new synergies in content, from grassroots reporting to high-level analysis in a truly global dialogue.

China Dialogue is a dynamic, exciting place to work. We are a Four-Day Work Week employer, and offer other benefits including cycle-to-work scheme and investment in an ethical pension scheme.

Company

chinadialogue is an independent organisation dedicated to promoting a common understanding of China’s urgent environmental challenges.

Climate change, species loss, pollution, water scarcity and environment damage are challenges that concern all the world's citizens, and the scale of China’s problems gives them global importance. Tackling these challenges demands a common effort and shared understanding.

Here at chinadialogue we aim to identify, promote and support the unique voices (and the people behind them) that increase understanding, share precious experiences and inspire a higher awareness of the planet’s challenges, no matter whether these voices come from inside China or from around the world.

chinadialogue is devoted to making such voices heard by a global audience, in a lively, convincing and multi-lingual fashion. It is our hope that in doing so, we can move closer to viable, equitable and real solutions to environmental problems.
