At Hearst UK, there’s always more to the story. Join us as our Hearst Institute Tech Editor to start the next chapter in your career.

The Hearst Institute tests hundreds of products every year so that Hearst’s brands can recommend the best products on the market to their readers.

We’re looking for an experienced tech journalist to become the go-to expert on anything tech for our brands, as well as a trusted, recognisable voice to our readers.

You’ll be responsible for writing a variety of tech content across a range of our titles, including Digital Spy, Esquire, Good Housekeeping and ELLE.

You’ll be identifying and testing the products our readers should know about and creating content that expands and strengthens our product review and tech news offering, both in print and online. Your work will contribute to our growing ecommerce and commercial revenue channels.

The Tech Editor will report into the Hearst Institute Content Manager, who is responsible for managing the content output of the Hearst Institute.

You’ll work closely with the Hearst Institute Content Manager to create a content schedule for 2021 and you’ll pitch your ideas to digital and print editors across Hearst’s titles.

Using your expert knowledge, you’ll test and review the latest tech products and write a variety of informative and engaging content, from buying guides to news stories, and track and report back on its success.

You’ll make sure all content is optimised for SEO and affiliate links and be responsible for adding it to the content management system. You’ll also be responsible for keeping it as up to date as possible in line with new product releases.

We’re looking for someone with excellent in-depth knowledge of the latest products within the tech space and can get the inside scoop from PRs on new product launches.

You’ll be organised, accurate and have a strong writing ability. You’ll have demonstrable experience writing tech content for multiple publications, both online and in print, and have proven editing skills.

You’ll be able to transform product test results into engaging, jargon-free copy at speed, and be able to adapt your tone and style of writing to suit different publications.

You’ll have good knowledge of the core principles of SEO and best practice, as well as experience using affiliate links. Experience using content management systems and photoshop is also desirable.

We’re the UK’s leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Digital Spy, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Good Housekeeping and Cosmopolitan.

We’ve created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We’ll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history.

At Hearst UK, you can choose from a huge range of perks and benefits that can help you learn well, work well and live well including:

  • 25 days’ holiday (with the option to buy up to 5 additional holiday days)
  • Flexible working – we’re happy to discuss options!
