This transformation means we remain ahead of our competition at the leading edge of the ever-changing media landscape.

A key component among our products is the Digital Edition app. We are looking for content editors who are highly skilled in editing news, features and sport copy, have a meticulous eye for detail and a determination to produce the best possible editions for our readers.

Please note: this role usually covers a 4:30pm - 1:00am shift time, on a rota basis including weekends (one on, one off).

Key responsibilities

  • Transferring copy from Telegraph print editions and optimising for iPad and other tablet and mobile formats.
  • Devising and implementing a plan for individual sections of the tablet edition each day.
  • Making sound news judgements.
  • Writing attention-grabbing headlines and captions.
  • Overseeing final checks and publication of the tablet editions.
  • Working swiftly and without error as part of a team
  • Leading production of the team on a regular basis, and overseeing the work of freelance workers.

Specific skills required for the role

  • Headline and caption writing.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Working with speed, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Detailed knowledge of current events, the news agenda and social media & technology trends.
  • Ability to work as part of the editorial team and pass on skills to others.
  • Ability to lead the team, to make sound and swift news judgements, and to be answerable for those decisions.
