In the face of climate change, corruption, misuse of power and increasing disregard for human rights, our work has never been more urgent. Join Global Witness as an Investigative Reporter to help us stop the destruction of climate critical rainforests.

About us

Global Witness protects human rights and the environment by confronting corruption and challenging the systems that enable it. We’ve been creating change for over 20 years, from alerting the world to blood diamonds to stopping forest destruction.

About the role

Our climate-critical tropical forests are being destroyed by big business, agricultural commodities and their links to the financial systems around the world.

By focussing on the connection between money, power, corruption, human rights abuses and deforestation, you will help us make the world a better place.

There will be an initial focus on Brazil, the Congo Basin and Papua New Guinea whilst you support the Forests Investigations team in producing impactful exposés to raise awareness globally.

You’ll gather evidence and analysis, identify advocacy targets and provide key input on our flagship investigations. This will ensure our work gets the widest possible audience but most importantly achieves change in business practice and regulations.

About you

You’ll bring solid journalism, campaigning or investigation experience and have displayed exceptional potential, along with some knowledge of media law and investigative approaches. You’ll also be a quick learner for innovative and cutting edge investigation techniques.

You’ll bring an interest in developing in a knowledge of deforestation or the financial sector, coupled with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of people and perspectives. Knowledge of finance and investment and/or a foreign language would be a definite advantage.

Working for us

We aim to be a diverse and inclusive place to work. We value new perspectives, original ideas and different ways of working. We believe that diverse views and experiences improve the way we do our work.
