MoneySavingExpert.com, Senior News Reporter
MoneySavingExpert.com is the UK’s biggest consumer website. It provides millions of users with free, independent, editorially led information about all things money. The goal for everyone working at MSE is simple – we’re dedicated to cutting consumer bills and fighting hard for financial justice for everyone.
MoneySavingExpert.com is recruiting a senior news reporter to join its news and investigations team.
We’re looking for a talented, hungry and experienced journalist to help drive the site’s agenda-setting news coverage and put together national-headline-grabbing investigations – someone who understands MoneySavingExpert’s style of practical, campaigning journalism, consistently delivers top-notch exclusives and can hit the ground running.
You’ll work on breaking news we turn around in three minutes and in-depth investigations we dig into for three months, across everything from savings to shopping.
Previous experience of personal finance or consumer topics is an advantage, not essential – but you will need an excellent news sense, plus a proven track record as a news reporter.
As well as being a top-notch journalist who can explain complicated subjects in an easy-to-read manner, you’ll have an analytical mind and meticulous attention to detail to ensure every word you publish is absolutely spot-on.
You must be comfortable number-crunching, asking forensic questions and sweating the small print, then explaining the inner workings of an ISA in a few chatty, engaging paragraphs. Puns are a plus.
While we are looking to recruit a senior reporter, we do also welcome applications from those who believe they’d be a good fit for the role but have more limited news reporting experience.
This is a full-time position which is usually based in MoneySavingExpert’s offices in central London, though there is some opportunity for flexible working and the MoneySavingExpert team is currently working from home due to the pandemic.

Please be aware that, if you’re successful in securing this position, the offer will be subject to several colleague checks that may include: identity, right to work in the UK, credit, criminal record, references and, where relevant, professional qualifications.
