In this role, you'll provide support to the various editors as well as the department as a whole. You will be working in an extremely dynamic environment and be the lynch pin for the whole Lifestyle area. No two days are the same and the role affords true autonomy, alongside like minded and driven colleagues.

This will include diary and office management, processing of payments, budget management, overseeing staffing issues, travel bookings and other ad hoc tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • The main challenge of this role is to maintain systems that will allow the effective management (costs and general) of the editorial function, and to offer support to various Editors and the team as a whole.
  • Verifying and processing contributor lineage, expenses and retainers, and checking staff expenses across lifestyle.
  • Helping to manage the Lifestyle budget including preparing expenditure reports and analysis.
  • Managing diary of Deputy Editor, Head of Magazines, Telegraph Magazine Editor and Stella Editor, including Fashion Week schedules twice yearly.
  • Helping writers with any travel arrangements as necessary.
  • Taking telephone calls from PRs, story sources and readers.
  • Managing all information and correspondence into the office.
  • Overseeing team holiday and absence records, and arranging and managing all casual staffing requirements.
  • Periodic research projects, library searches, typing and filing.


Essential skills required for the role

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an accomplished communicator.
  • Self motivated and able to work under your own direction.
  • Experience of providing high quality administrative support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organised and capable of working well under pressure.
  • Numerical and budgeting skills, including previous experience managing a P&L.
  • A good basic understanding of the editorial function and how it operates.


Additional skills useful for the role

  • Previous editorial experience.
  • Proficiency working within Google Suite.
