Why Join the MoneySavingExpert.com Team?

MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) is the UK’s biggest consumer website. It provides millions of users with free, independent, editorially-led information about all things money. The goal for everyone working at MSE is simple – we’re dedicated to cutting consumer bills and fighting hard for financial justice for everyone. We get around 15m Money Savers to our website every month. Our weekly email is full of exclusive deals, tricks and MoneySaving guides, all aimed at helping people make the most of their cash. In addition, our Cheap Energy Club takes the hard work out of switching energy and saving on energy bills, while Credit Club is a great way of managing an array of financial decisions.

But what really makes MSE stand-out from the crowd is the Editorial Code, which lies at the heart of everything we do. Regardless of your role at MSE, it’s everybody’s job to champion the consumer - and that makes us a truly unique, exciting and rewarding place to work. If you are inspired by what we do or see yourself as a passionate consumer champion, and have the grit and enthusiasm along with the skills we seek, a career in MSE might just be the right career step you are looking for.

Why Our Role?

We are looking for an experienced analyst to join the Editorial team working within the Energy & Utilities team (currently working from home, but normally based in our central London office). The successful candidate will be (or become) an expert on topics including energy, broadband, TV packages, mobile phones and more.

The Energy & Utilities team is a small team within a wider MSE editorial team. In 2020 our small team played a key role in the launch of two important tools – MSE Autoswitch, which has revolutionised the energy switching market, and the MSE Cheap Mobile Finder tool, which is a game-changer in helping users find a better mobile deal. We’re not done there, and innovation will be at the forefront of our objectives in 2021. We’ll be supporting the roll-out of one-click energy switching and developing and improving the Autoswitch journey. We’ll also be optimising our other existing tools, investigating launching new tools, writing new guides and looking at how we can better present our editorial content to make it even easier for users to digest and make the right decisions for them.

What will you be doing?

In the main, you’ll be analysing products in the utilities and energy markets and adding the best to MoneySavingExpert’s on-site guides and tools. You’ll also have a finger on the pulse of your subject areas, be brimming with ideas, and will be expected to write new guides and news stories, as well as pitching ideas and producing content for the MSE weekly email.

You will proactively source and verify information on new products that have entered the market. This involves a mix of checking comparison websites, fielding calls from providers and proactively contacting providers regularly to ensure the information we display is most up to date and as comprehensive as it can possibly be to ensure we are giving the right information to our users.

You will write content for our guides, news sections and weekly email. You’ll work closely with other writers to advise them of market developments and always looking to improve our online tools using analytics where necessary to optimise content.

A little about you

You will have excellent analytical skills and will be passionate about finding problems and solving them. Accuracy is something you are amazing at, whether it’s spotting spelling errors or fact-finding on our MSE toolkits.

Communication is something that comes naturally to you. Whether that’s writing articles or presenting ideas to your team, you’ll be a confident communicator who comes with bags of enthusiasm.

You will be the sort of person who thrives working to tight deadlines and quickly reacting to market changes will excite you.

Prioritisation is key as a Utilities and Energy Analyst/ Writer here at MoneySavingExpert as the role is so varied you will need to be able to prioritise and manage your time efficiently.
