Yahoo Lifestyle UK is seeking an experienced, ambitious and dynamic digital journalist with a strong background in lifestyle content and experience of managing a team. 
 
The right candidate will have plenty of experience reporting lifestyle news and breaking stories, and will have covered everything from the Royal Family to mental health during the pandemic as well as nutrition, parenting and education. He/she will have a flair for catching the detail that brings a story to life. Experience of creating ecommerce content is desirable. 
 
The right candidate will also have a very clear understanding of how to use social media and SEO to amplify their journalism. In addition, the candidate will be willing and able to liaise with the Sales teams around commercial opportunities when they present themselves. 
 
Some editing and commissioning experience is a must, along with a knowledge of video and audio content. Both are crucial areas in which Yahoo is increasingly focusing and the right candidate will need to be keen to be involved in this area.
 
He/she will already have made a name for themselves in the industry and dozens of industry contacts. Plus, plenty of ideas to help take Yahoo UK to the next level as we seek to grow our on-net and off-net audiences.
 
The position is for an initial period of six months.
 
Qualifications: 

  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write both short, viral stories and in-depth features 
  • Strong social media skills
  • Experience of commissioning from freelancers
  • An ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure    
  • An ability to juggle writing and editing with other responsibilities 
  • Incredibly organised     
  • Team player   
  • National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) qualification is preferred though a degree (or higher) that is journalism-related will also be considered
  • Candidate should be armed with ideas and enthusiasm for lifestyle content
