Newsweek is looking to recruit an enthusiastic full-time Social Video Producer
to join our growing video team. The role is currently remote but is based out of
our London office.

We are looking for someone who is eager to produce and edit trending digital
video content for our social media platforms and Newsweek.com at a very fast
pace. The candidate must be familiar with all aspects of production, from
finding stories that will go viral to writing scripts and editing footage for
different platforms. The successful candidate will have passion for news and
finding all things trending across a variety of topics, including political,
science and entertainment news. You are someone who has excellent
communication and organizational skills and is comfortable working in a fast-
paced environment under pressure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Search for, produce and edit several trending video stories per day for Newsweek.com articles and our various social platforms — including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, often on a tight deadline
  • Edit all videos using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
  • Optimize content for social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube
  • React to breaking news stories as and when they happen
  • Coordinate with Editorial and Social Media teams and managers to execute social video strategy
  • Manage multiple editing schedules and projects of complexity and work successfully under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
  • Contribute to team meetings by pitching content ideas that will help build video views and increase engagement

Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in creating content for digital platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms
  • Proficient editing with Adobe Premiere and After Effects
  • Strong knowledge of trending news and current events, entertainment, and politics (among other topics)
  • Proven creative, digital storytelling and technical skills, passion for journalism
  • Awareness of video and editorial content management systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-based, ever-changing environment
  • Able to work in a team environment and work well with others
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and collaborate with editorial and technical teams across multiple platforms
  • Self starter and eagerness to contribute new ideas
  • Able to understand the latest trends in social media creation, platforms and consumption
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including early morning, nights or weekends, if requested
  • Bonus: if you have motion graphics experience (AE, Photoshop, etc.)
