Newsweek is looking to recruit an experienced full-time Senior Social Video
Producer to join our video team. The role is currently remote but is based out of
our London office.


The Senior Social Video Producer must know how to produce and edit digital
trending and viral videos at a very fast pace and be familiar with all aspects of
production, from finding stories and writing scripts to editing footage in
different formats that will be used across Newsweek’s social media platforms
and Newsweek.com. The candidate will work closely with Editorial and social
media teams to execute social video strategy across the Newsweek brand. The
producer should be proficient in understanding all areas of news, whether it be
breaking or trending, and be especially well-versed in political news.


Along with producing your own videos, you will also have the ability to provide
support and guidance to fellow producers and video fellows throughout all
phases of video production, including finding appropriate viral stories,
writing/editing scripts and reviewing videos before they are approved for
publishing on various platforms. This means that you work well with others
and are able to adapt to any situation in a calm and professional manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and edit several videos per day for Newsweek’s various social platforms — especially Facebook and Instagram — and our website using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
  • React to breaking news stories as and when they happen
  • Coordinate with Video and Social Media managers and teams to execute social video strategy
  • Provide support and guidance to fellow producers during all phases of video production, including editing scripts and spot checking videos before they’re published
  • Pitch viral content ideas
  • Ensure that all content on Newsweek.com and our social media platforms adheres to Newsweek editorial guidelines
  • Provide insight into emerging platforms and trends, as well as monitor social video performance on our social media platforms
  • Manage multiple editing schedules and projects of complexity
  • Work successfully under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations

Required Qualifications

  • Experience producing content for a digital publication and social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter
  • Proficient video editing skills with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
  • A deep understanding of trending web content and how best to promote content to an online audience
  • Experience successfully guiding team members through various tasks
  • Proven creative, digital storytelling and technical skills, passion for journalism, professional judgment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-based, ever-changing environment
  • Able to work in a team environment and work well with others
  • Must be able to multitask and work collaboratively with editorial and technical teams across platforms and editorial disciplines
  • Self starter and eagerness to contribute new ideas
  • Interest and experience in a variety of topics, such as politics, technology, pop culture, science and entertainment Must be able to work flexible hours including early morning, nights or weekends, if requested
  • Motion graphics experience preferred
