The Telegraph, Opera Critic
The Telegraph is looking for an opera critic to continue its agenda-setting championing and critique of this great art form, following Rupert Christiansen’s departure after a quarter century. This is a retainer role (not a staff position) with the Telegraph's arts desk and includes within its scope features and reactive comments as well as reviews of the significant productions throughout the country, and occasionally abroad.
We are looking for a key contributor of talent and authority, a journalist possessing passion for the art form, insight and verbal flair. This is an opportunity to work with The Telegraph to define how opera stands in relation to the major cultural talking points that surround it today, from elitism to metoo, and be unafraid to present forthright points of view, as well as identify artistic merit, and call out failures.
If you are interested in discussing this opportunity please email Serena Davies, Director of Culture, at email@example.com
