Job Description:The Wall Street Journal is looking for an editor for its Letters section. The position reports to the Opinion editor and is responsible for selecting and editing the daily Letters to the editors in print and online. Journal letters are published daily, Monday-Saturday, in print and sometimes online. The Journal is looking for a candidate who can expand the Letters exchanges online and increase their digital audience. This will include soliciting letters on occasion to respond to Journal articles to encourage debate and inform readers.

The job requires good editorial judgment and excellent editing and writing skills. The candidate should be able to write headlines that are accurate and attract readers on the Journal's platforms as well as on search and social websites.

The job also requires a mature personality who can deal courteously with letter writers as well as Journal writers and editors. The candidate should be a close reader of The Wall Street Journal and follow the news of the day.The position will start remotely, but will be based in our New York office.

Applicant requirements:
  • It is essential that candidates be familiar with the ideas, philosophy and principles for which The Wall Street Journal's editorial page stands.
  • Flexible to do weekend/evening work as required.
  • High level of proficiency in copy-editing and proofreading.
  • The ability to work under deadline pressure.
