Researcher/Analyst

We are looking for temporary Researchers or Analysts to work on a range of data and business information research, leveraging our market-leading research expertise and methodologies, to assist organisations with data-related projects, providing value-added services to deliver projects on time and within budget. Training will be provided on the job. This job may require individuals to work at the client's premise of Dow Jones.

Responsibilities
  • Perform research on a range of relevant sources in Chinese and English including government and company websites, corporate registers and sources carried on internal products.
  • Identify companies and data fitting the project brief from the relevant sources, and adhere to a set of guidelines to provide the level of corporate details required.
  • Verify available information existing in the product to confirm it is up to date and accurate, following an established set of procedures to do so.
  • When applicable, to perform Anti-Money Laundering (AML) risk-based review and analysis on individual and business accounts against in-house database on risk and compliance information, including Sanctions, Politically Exposed Persons and Adverse Media, and adjudicate alerts accordingly for further review.
  • When applicable, to perform watch-list screenings, utilizing an understanding of banking AML and OFAC regulatory policies and procedures. The role holder will be responsible for disposition of watch-list name screening escalations and accurately resolve matches identified.
  • The Job also requires the ability to consolidate multiple data sets from different sources and analyse the data accurately and efficiently. When processing data, it is crucial that the person is able to identify problems as they arise and provide appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate, complete and up-to-date internal database and/or client-facing materials.
  • A professional attitude with a compliance mindset is necessary as the Researcher/ Analyst will be exposed to client facing environments when working on-site at client offices, if applicable.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required
  • Education up to bachelor degree.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese language is essential.
  • Excellent research & analytical skills. Ability to use online tools to extract key sources and information.
  • Excellent proofreading and organisational skills to build reports.
  • Familiar with AML typologies, any experience with name (or transaction) screening in the banking environment is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets, including statistical analyses, data visualization, data mining, and data cleansing/transformation will be helpful.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft suite, especially Excel, and Google suite preferred.
  • A fast, efficient and quality-focused work ethic to meet deadlines.
  • Customer-focused: putting the customer first responding with a sense of urgency.
  • Flexible team player with a high level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Enjoy working in a multicultural team environment and building strong work relationships.
