At Hearst UK, there’s always more to the story. Join us as our Deputy Editor Good Housekeeping to start the next chapter in your career.

We’re the UK’s leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Country Living. We’ve created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We’ll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history.

As the only media brand to be awarded the trademark Tried Tested Trusted, Good Housekeeping holds a unique position with its huge and loyal audience and provides them with expert solutions to today’s challenges across all areas of lifestyle. As the brand prepares to celebrate its 100th birthday in 2022, this is a brilliant time to join a highly experienced, dedicated, award-winning editorial team.

Reporting into the Group Editorial Director Lifestyle/Editor-in-Chief Good Housekeeping,  you will help lead the editorial strategy of the brand and also ensure a collaborative, creative and cohesive approach across the entire Lifestyle division.

As our Deputy Editor you will be required to be a words wizard, editing content to dazzle readers, as well as guiding the team to deliver consistent editorial excellence that will delight our audiences and win awards. You will also ensure factual accuracy and legal safety of all copy, as well as ensuring our tone remains consistent and our core brand principles are ever-present. And you will be fundamental to ensuring delivery of an effective and efficient workflow within Lifestyle Editorial.

You should be an experienced editorial lead, with a great understanding of quality content, visuals and the production process. You must be an adaptable individual, who can deal confidently with both colleagues but also work independently. Understanding of multiple lifestyle areas – cookery, gardening, homes, household management, cleaning, health and fitness – or the ability to rapidly become extremely knowledgeable in these topics is essential. Equally in-depth knowledge of the subbing process and workflow and a good eye for accurate copy is vital.

At Hearst UK, you can choose from a huge range of perks and benefits that can help you learn well, work well and live well including:

  • 25 days’ holiday (with the option to buy up to 5 additional holiday days)
  • Flexible working – we’re happy to discuss options!
  • Summer working hours
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Spend a charity day with your favourite good cause
  • Life assurance and pension scheme
  • Regular socials and more!
