Daily Star Online is looking for an outstanding Digital News Reporter to join our award-winning team, to cover breaking news, quickly, as it happens in the UK and abroad, for the Daily Star website, the Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday.

We are looking for someone who will be able to drive traffic to the Daily Star website through engaging, imaginative and well optimised news stories, while also providing the print editions with quality, exclusive, on-brand content.

We are keen to speak with experienced reporters that thrive in a fast-paced online newsroom environment and enjoy the thrill of reporting breaking news as it happens. What will the role involve?

As our Digital News Reporter you will cover breaking news, quickly, as it happens, for the Daily Star website, Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday ensuring it's as engaging as it can be. You will use your contacts to pull in exclusive interviews and news stories for the paper and website that will engage our readers.

You will also push digital content via Facebook and Twitter to optimise stories in accordance with the digital SEO strategy, as well as monitor news wires and social media for content and breaking news.

Who are we looking for?

You will be a qualified and experienced journalist, possessing at least 18 months experience at a national or major regional title. Passionate about delivering a wide range of engaging human interest and hard hitting news stories, you will understand what works for a digital audience and deliver content to prove this.

You must have sound legal knowledge, with first class editing, writing and subbing skills. You will relish the daily challenge of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. Any journalist will understand the requirement of flexibility, and this role will involve days, nights and weekends. You will be social media savvy with current SEO knowledge. An understanding of Escenic CMS and Chartbeat is desirable.
