News UK is also home to Wireless, a leading UK and Irish media company boasting independent local and national radio stations.

The Team: We are The Irish Sun. The Irish Sun is a multi-award winning newsbrand - the biggest selling daily tabloid newspaper in Ireland, with a huge audience online. The Irish Sun cares about our readers, the country and the kind of world we live in. We fight campaigns to bring positive change, but we also see humour in the everyday and feel it is important to entertain. The Irish Sun strives to the very highest standards of accuracy in its reporting, and continues to invest in original journalism in print and online. We care passionately about what comes next and we want to hear from others who share that passion.

Being an Irish Sun Apprentice is a gateway to a great career in journalism. During your time with us you will earn a living wage, get full training - including an NCTJ Diploma in journalism - with all your course fees paid.

You will receive mentoring and coaching bespoke to you and delivered by some of the most experienced and talented journalists in the industry.

There is no better way to start your journalism career than an apprenticeship with us.

Your Role: You will spend time with our reporting, subbing and digital team. You’ll learn everything we can teach you about how to create content, tell and share stories, attract, grow and capture an audience. You will spend four days a week with us doing on the job training and a day a week learning all there is to learn about journalism with our partner PA Training, part of the national news agency for the UK & Ireland. At the end of the programme you’ll graduate with a qualification in journalism and be well on your way to your chosen career in journalism.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • You are passionate about journalism and creating the best content
  • You turn new and imaginative ideas into reality and can help us create a fresh tone that will resonate with a more diverse audience
  • You excite people by the way you tell stories
  • You make the complex simple
  • You have a desire to do well and don’t let people down
  • You are a good storyteller and know what makes a story interesting

More than anything you have a passion for learning and will grab this opportunity with both hands with the aspiration of being a creative force.
