Mail+ is an ambitious project with a talented and dedicated editorial team and a start-up mind-set.

Your focus will be on growing the audience of the current Mail+ newsletters, in addition to launching new newsletters in-line with the editorial direction of Mail+, working closely with the Editor-in-Chief and the Head of Digital.

Key areas of responsibility 

  • Own the development of newsletters within the Mail+ editorial team, from audience engagement to data reporting. 
  • Work closely with the editorial and CRM team to develop Mail+ newsletters to encourage greater engagement on site, and in turn boost subscribers.
  • Work with editorial, CRM and tech teams to develop new newsletters designed to boost reader engagement and loyalty.
  • Work with the design team to create new templates for our current newsletters, informed by newsletter audience data. 
  • Monitor audience signals - particularly open rate, click rate and sign-ups. Finesse and optimise Mail+ newsletter output based on this data.Work with the editorial team to prioritise stories selected for newsletters, as well as AB-testing the best send times and subject lines. 
  • Keep abreast of industry innovations and best practice, to ensure Mail+ newsletters are as compelling as they can be.
  • Create weekly data reports for Mail+ editors, helping to inform which types of stories should be included in our newsletters. 
  • Be confident using and analysing data to help inform Mail+ newsletters. 


Required Experience

  • CMS and newsletter experience.
  • Experience working within audience engagement. 
  • Track record of working for a news publisher.
  • Understanding of user behaviour around newsletters.
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines.
  • NCTJ (or similar) standard qualification.
  • High standards of written English. 
  • High standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to work with other teams effectively under pressure.
