Your team: Situated within News UK’s commercial department (The Bridge), the Strategic Development team is tasked with driving revenue through expertise, thought leadership, and innovation whilst creating the foundations for future revenue streams. You will report into the Lead Editor- eCommerce and Affiliates and work closely with individuals from the team as well as key stakeholders from our broadcasting businesses.

Your role: Senior eCommerce & Affiliates Writer 

As Senior Writer-eCommerce and Affiliates, you will be responsible for writing and publishing best in class commerce content across all sections of the business. An experienced newsroom journalist and strong self-starter, you will bring strong commercial acumen to editorial endeavours, ensuring best practice across the newsroom and being responsible for driving revenue and yield across key sections and projects. 

 

Day to day you will: 

  • Work closely with the Lead Editor to develop and build the editorial strategy for all BAU content across the sun.co.uk

  • Write and publish flawless eCommerce and affiliate content, ensuring key section tone and style guidelines are adhered to 

  • Take strategic responsibility for assigned sections, commissioning where appropriate 

  • Take shared commercial responsibility for assigned sections, ensuring editorial stakeholders are producing best in class content

  • Create/commission partnership content for key endeavours (CTM, Amazon etc), ensuring section specific tone and style  

  • Commission BAU content where appropriate and budget permits

  • Work closely with the publishing sales team in order to support pitches where appropriate 

  • Take guidance from the Commercial SEO lead in order to commission and publish content that resonates with our audiences and traffic sources 

  • Work towards traffic, revenue and engagement targets, ensuring key metrics are achieved across all areas of work

  • Have an in-depth understanding of commercial arrangements and the importance of these, and how they are applied day to day 

  • Write, Commission, edit and publish with ASA and CAP code regulations front of mind, ensuring compliance with these at all times

  • Keep abreast of market trends across the ecommerce and affiliate landscape, regularly sharing these with peers and key stakeholders

 

Key Skills

  • An expert knowledge and understanding of the ecommerce and affiliate editorial space, with significant experience in a similar role 

  • A confident self-starter, with the ability manage own workload 

  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to meet targets 

  • Confident presentation skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills both internally and externally 

  • Excellent communication skills both internally and externally

  • Expert understanding of the competitive landscape
