About the Role:

Construction News is seeking an ambitious and talented journalist with experience of writing long-form content. The appointment will be made at Features Editor or Senior Writer level, according to experience.

As Features Editor you will take the lead on all of Construction News’s long-form content. This includes features, interviews, investigations, project reports, audience surveys and comment pieces. You will regularly produce such material yourself, and also commission and assign work to others.
Alternatively, Senior Writer candidates will take an active part in writing features, interviews, investigations, and project reports for publication in print and online.

Construction is a nationally important industry, and in either position you will be expected to delve deep into its big stories to give CN subscribers greater insight than the mainstream media.

You will also write shorter news articles on a regular basis to support the news coverage of the website and magazine.

About Us:

In the last year we’ve published features on a wide range of topics - from cladding to racism, from modern slavery to company finances.

Senior leaders in the construction industry look to our features and investigations as a source of informative, reliable insight into the business issues they face.

About you:

Experienced journalist with an understanding of media law. Ability to write, research and edit agenda-setting news and features. Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a complex workload and work to tight deadlines. Confident interviewer, capable of asking pertinent questions. Prior knowledge of the construction industry is ideal but not essential.

Key Accountabilities:
