Wanderlust Travel Media has entered a new era and is looking for an experienced, organised and hard-working Digital Editor to join our team and help take the Wanderlust website and digital channels forward.

We have ambitious plans to grow and develop our digital channels further, and so this is an exciting time to take on this role. It’s a stimulating but very busy and demanding role, so you’ll need to be a brilliant and energetic allrounder who thrives under pressure.

Responsibilities:
 

You will be responsible for:

  • Sourcing, creating, planning, loading, refreshing and scheduling top quality and accurate content for the continually growing Wanderlust website, delivering increased visitor engagements – including photo & video content
  • Managing, growing and increasing engagement on our social media accounts – Instagram, Twitter, Facebook
  • Producing newsletters (currently two a week), incorporating competitions, commercial content, promos and ads
  • Managing online communication channels

In addition, you will:

  • Play an important role in helping shape the editorial direction and overall strategy for the Wanderlust website and digital channels to meet their traffic and commercial targets
  • Help to promote Wanderlust magazine and additional brand extensions throughout the website
  • Assist in the Wanderlust team wherever needed, such as assisting with subbing and regular pages of Wanderlust magazine and helping with events and our membership club
  • Take on admin tasks as needed, which may include managing of email accounts and competition administration
  • Be expected to attend client meetings and evening events as needed
  • Represent Wanderlust in industry events/activities as needed

Personal qualities:

  • Well organised, fast and motivated
  • A passion for travel
  • Tech-savvy with a good grounding on digital (including websites & social channels)
  • Good eye for top content and visually-striking images
  • Sharp eye for detail
  • Good commercial head
  • Analytical – need to be able to use Google Analytics effectively to see what’s working well and what isn’t and to tune/tweak content schedules to maximise number and quality of traffic to the site
  • Dynamic – always coming up with ideas for compelling content, engagement and to increase traffic

Essential skills:

 

  • Proven experience of copy writing, sub-editing and proof-reading
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Experience of an Analytics package such as Google Analytics
  • Strong social media experience and a passion for exploiting it
  • Experience of CMS systems
  • Basic Photoshop skills for cropping and resizing of images & videos
  • Basic HTML coding skills
  • Strong knowledge of the travel industry, with emphasis on UK/US markets

Note:


This is a full-time, UK-based role. 

While you will initially be working from home, longer-term you will be expected to regularly work in a London office, and to be available for meetings and events in London.
