Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a London-based audio producer for our podcasting team. You will work with newsroom reporters and editors, as well as video colleagues, to develop and produce daily news briefs and podcasts. A professional background in audio journalism, top-notch writing skills and strong experience producing in the studio and the field are essential for this role.

As an audio producer, you will be responsible for editing and mixing multiple audio packages daily. A strong understanding of the news and good editorial judgment are key, as are quick and accurate audio editing skills with a standard DAWS (Adobe Audition or ProTools preferred). This position will report to the London-based supervising producer. While you will likely start the job working remotely, you will eventually be based in our London office.

You will:

  • Research topics of interest to The Wall Street Journal's audience
  • Book and record interviews, edit clips and briefs, mix full episodes
  • Coordinate with reporters and editors in New York, Hong Kong, and other offices
  • Propose new and original ideas for timely and relevant programming
  • Serve as a backup editor for our daily morning news podcast
  • Manage multiple projects in various stages of production
  • Fact-check and ensure that all journalistic and legal standards are followed
  • Be able to work late hours and weekends both as part of a regular weekend rotation and as news developments may warrant

You have:

  • At least three years' experience serving as an audio producer in a daily news environment, preferably at a global news organization
  • Experience working on news podcasts, preferably with a business focus
  • A track record of producing quality audio content efficiently under tight deadline
  • Knowledge of current events, U.S. and world politics, economics, and a nose for news
  • Skills operating studio boards as well as field equipment
  • A professional-level understanding of Adobe Audition, Pro Tools or another DAW
  • The ability to communicate clearly and a collaborative spirit

To apply, please submit a cover letter clearly outlining how your skills and experience meet or exceed the key candidate requirements, along with links to five podcasts that represent the type of work described.
