Exciting opportunity

Nursing Standard is looking for an experienced News Editor to join our award-winning team.

We’re looking for someone who can set the agenda with exclusive stories and build on the excellent engagement we have developed with our audience through our online content and social media channels.

This is a great opportunity to join an ambitious team at a time when healthcare issues have never been more prominent on the national agenda and delivering insightful content has never been more important to our readers.

Nursing Standard was this year recognised as a ‘shining example of excellence in the industry’, receiving the coveted PPA Chairman’s Award for its COVID-19 content, campaigning and product development.

To help us continue this proud record, you will have a great news sense, a passion for accuracy and know how to put together a formidable contacts list. You will be skilled in the use of content analytics to help measure the impact of stories and understand your audience, and have experience in the use of multimedia and social media to cover and promote news.

Nursing Standard has an office in central London but fully supports agile and flexible working practices. Please note, the role will initially involve remote working while pandemic restrictions are in place. Nursing Standard is published by RCNi, an editorially independent subsidiary of the Royal College of Nursing, with excellent terms and conditions.

The overall aims of the role are:

  • Provide leadership to the news team and oversee the daily online news output.
  • Also promote content on social media and drive digital engagement.
  • Contribute to the development of editorial strategy.

To apply, please see the role description and person specification for further details of this role on our site.  When applying, please submit your CV, completed Supporting Statements and Equal opportunities forms by the specified closing date.

Closing date: Sunday 25 July 2021.

Interviews will be held via MS Teams.

RCNi supports the work-life balance of our staff through our SMART Working policy outlining our approach to agile and flexible working
