Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is looking for an ambitious and high-energy markets journalist for a novel role that straddles words, data and video. You will be part of the Journal's financial-markets team and will play a central part in a new digital-first offering that covers the markets analytically, as they happen.
You will also host a forthcoming WSJ markets channel on YouTube. In this role, you will work with WSJ video journalists to script and film a weekly video program covering financial markets and investing. The YouTube channel will consist of a mix of topical market updates and longer-lead features, explainers, and original video series. We're looking for someone who is comfortable reading scripts and speaking to camera in a conversational tone.
We need a flexible, enthusiastic reporter with strong knowledge of markets and finance. You should be widely curious about the subject area and have at least three years of experience writing or broadcasting in it. Experience with macroeconomics, banking, investing and other related areas is a plus. Previous video experience is a plus but not required. You'll need to be adept enough to write and think about crypto, lumber, bond yields, stocks--whatever the market can throw at you. Your work product will be daily items and stories for the Journal's digital markets section and the YouTube show.
You will report to one of our Markets Editors and you will work closely with our video team. You will be based in our New York office.
