You are tenacious and fearless working in the field.
And smooth in front of the studio cameras.
You can switch between politics and entertainment, analysis and interviews, broadcast and online journalism.
You have an engaging personality, and your own perspective.
You want to start a new chapter of your life in Moscow, one of the world’s most vibrant mega cities.
RT is looking for a talented journalist to join its main English-language hub, broadcasting to over 100 countries, and a monthly online audience in the hundreds of millions.
You are an accomplished broadcaster. You are going to be one of the faces of a major international media company – while we like to hire talent who still have their best work ahead of them, this is a highly-competitive position for those with an impressive track record in media journalism.
You have something to say. We are not recruiting marionettes to read words on a screen, or models for a PRESS jacket in a warzone. While presentation is a key part of the job, we are looking for substance, as well as gloss.
You are a newsroom leader. There will be dozens of staff, whose role will during any of your shifts is making sure that you can do your job properly on the screen. You have to inspire their trust and loyalty.
Your field reporting stands out from the crowd. You are not happy to file an identical report to the BBC journalist in the next hotel room. You go the extra mile(s) to venture to places others don’t bother with, ensure you get that exclusive interview, and break that story from location. You offer your producers flexibility and speed, and demand that they give you opportunities for meaningful and in-depth reportage.
You understand how journalism is changing. When you are competing with Twitter stars and YouTubers, it is no longer enough to just be a cog in a machine, however well-oiled. You want to actively develop your profile, grow your following, and let your true self shine through your work.
While there will be travel, your base will be in MOSCOW. If you are not already in Russia, we will make sure the relocation is fast and trouble-free.
The presenter component of your role will be on a rota you can plan around. The reporting side is likely to be more unpredictable, but we look after the workloads and overall wellbeing of our staff.
Please be ready to provide a showreel or a series of clips highlighting your past multimedia work. As part of the recruitment process, you will be asked to undertake a written test, and likely, a studio audition, which can also be filmed in London or Washington, DC.
