Express.co.uk, Home and Garden Reporter, (Casual to perm)
Express.co.uk is looking for a Home and Garden Reporter to join our growing team. We are keen to speak with budding reporters hoping to get a foot in the door at a national level as well as experienced journalists with a passion for all things property, interiors and gardening.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and help to shape two sections that have become increasingly important to our readers over the past 18 months, while also driving Express’s extensive editorial content and digital presence.
This position will be mainly home-based.

What will the role involve?
The successful candidate for this role will write and develop stories, with great pictures and engaging video. You will deliver a fast turnaround on copy and will be expected to bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals.
The role will involve working alongside the SEO Lifestyle team to generate new ideas for the Property and Garden sections, help to shape these growing areas and come up with new ideas on how to move these departments forward.
Who are we looking for?
You will be passionate about delivering copy on a wide range of subjects, from property prices and mortgage advice to cleaning hacks, DIY tips and gardening advice. You will have a great imagination and think outside the box in order to generate new ideas and areas of content.
You will be able to develop contacts in core topic areas to produce engaging exclusive content. You will understand what works for a digital audience and deliver content to prove this.
You must have sound legal knowledge, with first class editing, writing and subbing skills. You will relish the daily challenge of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. Any journalist will understand the requirement of flexibility, and this role will involve days, evenings and weekends. You will be social media savvy with current SEO knowledge. Experience using Google Trends and Google Analytics is preferred.
