About Us

Mediatel News has been published since the early 1990s and has a formidable line-up of writers. Its editorial offering includes daily news, analysis and opinion alongside regular in-depth features and industry profiles.

The platform has a UK focus but is read the world over and is funded via advertising revenues, partner content and its role supporting Mediatel Events. Mediatel Events produces 26 global conferences a year focused on all media channels and form part of our Future Of series for TV, Audio, OOH, Publishing Gaming, Brands and Diversity.

About the role

Mediatel News is looking for a reporter to write news, features and analyses that are focused on the exciting media, marketing and advertising marketplace. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone that wants to make a name for themselves in one of the most interesting markets anywhere and work in an expanding business with ambitious growth plans.

The role will require researching and writing high-quality news stories, investigations, and analysis pieces covering the TV, digital, publishing, radio and out-of-home sectors. Working with the editor, you will be part of a team working across Mediatel News, and its sister publishing platform Videonet and Mediatel Events.

You will also contribute to our market-leading portfolio of events, whether that is interviewing industry names, or developing ideas for events content and coverage.

While we are mostly looking for someone who can write well, we are very interested in applicants with experience and/or enthusiasm for creating audio and video content, too.

We offer remote-working opportunities but you must be able to regularly be in London for team working and in-person events based in the capital.

About you

This role is open to all candidates with journalism training, for instance with an NCTJ or an MA qualification, as well as those with experience of working for a news, magazine or trade journal publisher.

The chosen candidate will either have a track record of delivering exclusive published stories or be able to demonstrate that they have the ideas, commitment and resourcefulness required to do so. Knowledge of the UK commercial media industry and of data journalism would be a bonus, but not essential.

Above all, you should be tenacious, diligent, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm for media and advertising, as well as being an efficient worker with good people skills.
