JOB DESCRIPTION

At Hearst UK, there’s always more to the story. Join us as our Hearst Institute Food and Drink Editor to start the next chapter in your career.

We’re the UK’s leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar and Digital Spy. We’ve created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We’ll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history.

The Hearst Institute tests hundreds of products every year so that Hearst’s brands can recommend the best products on the market to their readers. We’re looking for an experienced food and drink editor to join the Hearst Institute content team and become the go-to expert on anything food or drink related for our brands, as well as a trusted, recognisable voice to our readers.

You’ll be responsible for identifying the products we should test and when, and creating quality content that expands and strengthens our product review offering both in print and online. Your work will also contribute to our growing ecommerce and commercial revenue channels.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Food and Drink Editor will report into the Hearst Institute Content Manager, who is responsible for managing the content output of the Hearst Institute. You’ll work closely with the Hearst Institute Content Manager to implement the 2021 food and drink content strategy and you’ll pitch your ideas to digital and print editors across Hearst’s titles.

Using your expert knowledge, you’ll write a variety of informative and engaging content, from buying guides to product roundups. You’ll make sure all content is optimised for SEO and affiliate links, and be responsible for adding it to the content management system. You’ll also be responsible for keeping it as up to date as possible in line with new product releases and SEO best practice.

You’ll track and report back on the success of the content you’ve created and also help with ad hoc editing within other Hearst Institute content areas (homes, beauty and grooming, health and fitness). You’ll also stay on top of industry news and updates to make sure we continue to be leading experts in the food and drink space.

ABOUT  YOU

We’re looking for someone with excellent in-depth knowledge on the latest products within the food and drink space and who can get the inside scoop from PRs on new product launches.

You’ll be organised, accurate and have a strong writing ability. You’ll have demonstrable experience writing food and drink content for multiple publications, both online and in print, and have proven editing skills.

You’ll be able to transform product test results into engaging, jargon-free copy at speed, and be able to adapt your tone and style of writing to suit different publications. You’ll have good knowledge of the core principles of SEO and best practice, as well as experience using affiliate links. Experience using content management systems and photoshop is also desirable.
