As part of our growth story, we are looking for an experienced writer with a specialism in finance, business and/or technology to join our team of 10+ writers.
As industry experts in Brand Journalism, we help tell our clients' stories in an engaging manner, often bringing complex and specialised subject matters to life in a way that captures the imagination of a wider audience.
You will be following client briefs in order to research and write articles, sometimes interviewing senior executives as part of that process.
We write blogs, features, white papers and e-books. We digest reports, develop web copy and ghostwrite articles for CEOs. We also attend conferences (remotely or otherwise) and produce session summaries or live blogs. And we work alongside our visuals team to develop the scripting for animations, videos and infographics. Our content most often appears on digital content platforms and is shared via social media.
Many of our team are former journalists - either from the mainstream media (Bloomberg, PA, BBC) or from the trade press. But we also welcome writers with a content or marketing background.
Outline of key duties and responsibilities
- Ideas, creativity and a passion to write
- Excellent written skills and grammar
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy
- The ability to understand complex or technical language and convert it into clear yet accurate copy
- The curiosity to read, understand and get to the nub of an issue
- Strong editorial judgement
- The ability to understand the objectives of clients, incorporating these into your written work
- The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Significant experience of covering business, economics or technology stories
- 10 years+ experience as a writer or journalist
Our ways of working at Formative Content have shifted enormously because of the coronavirus pandemic, during which we’ve all been working entirely remotely. While we do eventually plan an optional return to our Beaconsfield newsroom for some Covid-secure in-office connection with team members, we see the future including a high level of remote working. We’re therefore happy for our new team member to be located anywhere within the UK, on the understanding that there will be times that visits to the office will be required – perhaps once or twice a month.
