Summary

Leading global regulatory news service Chemical Watch is looking for a journalist with experience of reporting on policy, science or business issues to join our three-strong Asia Pacific news team covering key policy and regulatory developments in the region.

The role

Working from home, the successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on developments in chemicals regulation and management across the region, as directed by the Asia Pacific desk editor. The reporter will be a significant contributor to the desk’s news output, and will need to develop a good working knowledge of how chemicals are regulated, as well as developing excellent industry contacts across the region. The successful candidate will also attend Chemical Watch and third party events relevant to our Asia coverage.

The candidate

  • High level of professionalism and personal drive, with the ability to plan, prioritise and work well remotely
  • A proven track record of producing clear, accurate and insightful news reports
  • Ability to quickly develop a good working knowledge of the chemicals regulatory environment across Asia Pacific
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build industry contacts
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Experience of reporting on one or more countries in the region is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of a relevant language in addition to English is an advantage, but not essential
  • Willing to travel to conferences and other events (occasional)

Experience

  • Essential: Proven news and news analysis reporting skills
  • Preferable: 3+ years employed in a B2B, policy or science news reporting environment
