Social media journalist
The Times and The Sunday Times are looking for a social media journalist to help bring our stories to life by combining excellent writing skills with an intimate knowledge of what works on social media.
You will have an eye for a shareable story and know how to make the most of it across different platforms. This role requires someone with demonstrable experience of visual storytelling on social platforms, adept at making the most of aspirational content from a visual point of view.
Your expertise will be called on by our Times Money Mentor team, and you’ll be working closely with journalists, designers and the multimedia team to present a variety of money-focused content types in the best possible way.
Expertise in optimising copy for social media, choosing the best format in which to present stories, sourcing stories through social media and using data to inform your decisions are essential. You will be a keen innovator with lots of ideas and the ability to run controlled tests that can inform long-term strategies.
Times Money Mentor is on a mission to demystify money, so a passion for telling stories that make it interesting and relevant to different audiences is a must. Experience in personal finance is desirable but not required. Please indicate on your application any relevant experience you have.

Writing and editing copy as well as adapting pictures and multimedia for social media platforms
A track record of creating social media activity that engages its intended audience
A strong and confident communicator, able to champion the use of social media to the wider newsroom
Ability to pull editorial insights from data, understanding various platform-specific metrics to inform decisions
Expertise in creative storytelling: comfortable using a variety of techniques, from GIFs to interactives, polls to live Q&As

This role will join our cross-title digital strategy team. The team is charged with finding and telling stories on our digital platforms in the most appropriate formats and empowering the newsroom to present stories in new and innovative ways.
