Job Description:

The Dow Jones Technology engineering team is looking for a Senior QA engineer who fully understands the critical role quality assurance plays in the success of a customer-focused organization. In this position, the Senior QA engineer will be expected to use their deep understanding of and experience with software testing methodologies and technology, as well as strong analytical and communication skills to champion quality throughout the SDLC.

You will report into the Engineering team that is aligned with the Professional Information Business product line within Dow Jones.

Responsibilities:

• Planning and executing tests and communicating results to colleagues in both Engineering, Business and Editorial teams as appropriate.
• Developing strategies for improving our automated test coverage including reviewing current test plans, identifying new scenarios, and monitoring test results.
• Analyzing existing product functionality, performance, documentation and new requirements to develop test strategies and scenarios.
• Providing quality perspective while collaborating with development teams and stakeholders as part of Agile and BDD processes
• Documenting, tracking, and reviewing all defects found throughout the development process
• Supporting production releases and debugging any post production issues with development team
• Understanding best practices for code promotion across the various environments. (builds, approvals, release) - strong SDLC background in Agile/Iterative practices.
• Working closely with the QA and Development teams in understanding automation testing needs and priorities, and working with the automation team prioritize and deliver on projects that are defined
• Review QA project artifacts including Test Plans, Test Scripts and project strategies
• Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 total years experience in QA Engineering (Senior 3-5)
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Deep understanding of software testing methodologies and processes
• Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Agile Methodologies and Jira
• Understanding of BDD and Gherkin
• Experience writing and maintaining automated test plans
• Self-organized, works well independently and in a geographically diverse team environment in a collaborative fashion.

Desired Skills & Experience (would be a plus):

• Experience with test automation frameworks, Cucumber, Test Cafe
• Accessibility testing experience
• Knowledge related to cloud technologies and observability tools like Elasticsearch, Grafana, Open Telemetry tracing
