Job Details

Role purpose and overview

The technology beat is at the heart of the Telegraph’s business coverage as we chronicle the relentless reshaping of modern life by the internet. This job would suit a hungry reporter who wants to understand how innovation from the smartphone to the electric car is transforming the modern economy.

Ideal candidates will be willing to cover everything from Apple’s latest product launch to the regulatory challenges faced by fintech firms, the rise and reach of Chinese companies and the battle between privacy and transparency that informs so much modern debate.

Reporters should have a well-filled contacts book and be comfortable speaking to start-ups, growing players such as Revolut or Oneweb, and senior figures at the likes of Tesla and Amazon - some of the biggest companies in the world.

The wherewithal to spot a story in a set of accounts is as crucial, as are the interpersonal skills to get a reluctant source talking.

Please note: this is a fixed-term contract position, covering a period of parental leave.
