Job Details

The Role The FT is setting up a new longform desk to help drive our agenda-setting and prize-winning journalism. The desk will be responsible for editing the big read, for managing special projects and for generating other longform pieces and visual story-telling ideas. 

We are looking for two editors to work on the desk. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Commission and edit big reads on a wide range of subjects
  • Develop and manage special projects that will be showcases for FT journalism  - such as The Millennial Moment or the New Social Contract
  • Edit investigations and other longform pieces as well as big reads
  • Work with the new visual story-telling team on developing their ideas into agenda-setting journalism

 

Your skills:

  • Ability to identify topics and ideas that would make strong longform reads 
  • Comfortable editing longform pieces about varied topics - including business and finance
  • Confidence to discuss and debate ideas with editors and writers
  • Diplomacy needed to work with reporters and correspondents who face multiple demands on their time
  • Aptitude for visual storytelling and using graphics in a creative way
  • Capacity to work to tight deadlines
