Yahoo UK - Finance & Markets reporter
Yahoo Finance UK is looking for an outstanding journalist to contribute towards its wide-ranging coverage of business news.
You will be a self-starter, who knows when to be nimble and react to breaking news with quick stories and analysis. You must have demonstrated knowledge and experience in covering the UK economy as well as European companies and markets. Knowledge and experience of covering cryptocurrencies would be an advantage.
You will also be instrumental in covering major events, at ease with reporting on breaking news and making finance news accessible for a broad range of digital audiences.
Experience of working in online journalism and being comfortable working with audience teams will be critical to this role.
You will also be open to being involved in audio/video opportunities including live programming where applicable.
Yahoo globally has 900 million monthly users and a footprint in multiple countries and this opportunity is a fantastic chance for you to showcase your talent.
The role is a 12-month contract with a competitive salary. Remote working will be considered, although some presence in our central London offices will be needed when required.
The ideal candidate will:
Ideally have at least 3 years’ experience in financial journalism, with a passion for a fast-paced news environment and for finance.
Must possess an enthusiasm for digital storytelling through writing and audio/visual content.
Have a track record of success across a fast-paced media environment as well as through timely, analytical and thought-provoking pieces.
Impeccable organisational and communication skills that lead to an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
Be able to demonstrate creativity on a daily basis.
Be inclusive and collaborative.
Work flexible hours in order to meet the demands of a digital newsroom.
National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) qualification is preferred though a degree (or higher) that is journalism-related will also be considered - or a demonstrable equivalent in real-world experience.
