The Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is a professional membership organisation with approx. 16,000 members. Our members have a broad and diverse base of specialisms covering the whole of the materials cycle.

Working under the supervision of, and reporting to, the Magazine Group Editor, our two tiles, Materials World and Clay Technology, are seeking to recruit a Staff Writer to join another Staff Writer in our team of four.

The individual will fulfil a key and varied role in the editorial team working on both titles. They will produce news pages in each issue, contribute to the daily rota of digital news, and take part in pitching and developing longer special reports, profile pieces, event reports and other long form articles as required.

The individual will also take responsibility for certain set regular sections in the magazine, such as the events listings, books and content pages, and will cover for the other Staff Writer as required to maintain our social media and online presence.  

The successful candidate should have an excellent command of English language and grammar, be comfortable with technical content, with a proven ability for interviewing and reporting, as well as writing incisive, well-structured news and news features within a print magazine and/or online communications environment.

The candidate should be able to work to tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and strong proofreading skills.

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our busy and vibrant team with experience of CMS, SEOs and In-Design for sub-editing highly desirable. We offer a hybrid working environment with remote and office-based working from our London Hub.
