Purpose of the job

PEI’s special projects business is growing rapidly and we are now seeking a creative, organised and highly motivated team player to support our editors produce an expanding portfolio of sponsor-backed supplements, which take a deep dive into current trends shaping the private investment markets. As Staff Writer, you will work across PEI’s brands covering the private equity, real estate, private debt and infrastructure markets and gain valuable market insight, building knowledge and developing contacts in these key areas of the alternative assets sector.


Who we’re looking for

In this wide-ranging role, you will collaborate closely with the editors to identify relevant content for reports, interview high-level executives for sponsored content, write across a range of formats including features, surveys and awards, as well as assist with digital post-production processes. You will also liaise closely with our marketing solutions, print production and design teams. We’d expect you to have demonstrable experience in journalism either as a staff writer or reporter, ideally within the private markets sector. Post-graduate journalism degree or NCTJ training preferable.

The role has the scope for the candidate to progress to more senior editorial positions.

The core responsibilities are to:

  • Research, write and edit articles for print and digital on private market developments and trends for special supplements and projects. They will typically have sponsor involvement and must be produced in association with company guidelines.
  • Write and edit copy to high standard in terms of accuracy and PEI house style.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across offices to develop original content ideas in print and digital.
  • Participate actively in editorial planning and production meetings.
  • To co-ordinate the efficient sourcing of relevant production assets including photographs, headshots, charts, graphs, etc.


Annual Leave

Full-time UK employees are entitled to 25 days of annual leave + the eight public holidays. PEI offers all permanent employees (i.e., employees who have successfully passed their probation period), an option to flex their holidays up or down by three days to suit their needs. Please note, this is not about selling back unused allowance for the current year, but rather planning for the year ahead

PEI partners with Standard Life to offer you a Company Pension scheme for which you will become eligible once you have successfully passed your probation period. The plan is co-funded by the Company (PEI contribution of equivalent of 4.5% of salary) and a contribution from you of 4.5%.

Private Medical Insurance

Upon the successful completion of your probation period, you will be eligible to join the PEI Private Medical Insurance via BUPA. This is a free benefit to you, but it is taxable. More information will be available on the scheme details during employment.

Salary Sacrifice Schemes

Upon the successful completion of your probation period, you will be eligible to benefit from other salary sacrifice schemes, such as a season ticket loan and a Cycle to Work scheme
