Who We Are

Triangle News is an award-winning news agency providing incredible stories and pictures to some of the world’s largest media outlets. If you read newspapers, magazines or share news online, you will definitely have seen our stories.

We are independently run and committed to making an impact on the world of journalism. You will be joining a small, friendly and ambitious team with a focus on delivering exceptional content. Our talented senior team has years of newspaper and magazine experience between them.

The Role

We are looking for a people person who is buzzing with ideas and who lives and breathes news. A committed team player, you will be expected to work across all fields. One day you could be writing a gritty crime spread for the Sunday Mirror, the next a short, catchy human interest piece for the Sun. You must be keen to bounce your ideas off other members of staff and know exactly what is on the news agenda every day.

The successful applicant absolutely must be a vibrant self-starter as you will not be drip-fed things to do. You will be expected to come up with several news ideas a day that are fully researched and of the highest quality. You will read several newspapers daily as well as online news sites. Training and assistance will be provided and you will have the opportunity to work closely with our highly experienced editorial team.

This is a flexible role and primarily you will be working from home. For that reason, although we are based in London, we will consider strong candidates from across the UK. Some travel will be required as you may be attending court and carrying out door knocks. As with all journalism roles, a 9-5 cannot be guaranteed - we want someone who is hungry to clinch the story, whatever it takes.

The Applicant

We are looking for a reporter who can match our ambition and who is keen to be a part of a ground-breaking news team. As we are a young business you will have direct contact with the experienced editors and owners, meaning the opportunity to train and progress on the job will be significant.

It is essential that you live and breathe news and current affairs and are bursting to chat about what’s going on in the world. You’ll need a strong news sense and must be capable of spotting what would make a good story for the national newspapers, online sites and women’s magazines. It is also essential that you have some previous news experience, with local paper experience especially welcome. You must be confident interviewing people from all walks of life, often on extremely sensitive topics and under pressure. Chatty and approachable, you will feel as comfortable talking to the local vicar as you would the Prime Minister.

You must have an NCTJ journalism qualification or equivalent and 100wpm shorthand. A full clean driving licence is a must, and access to a vehicle would be helpful.

This role is perfect for someone who has been working on local newspapers and who wants to take a step towards the nationals.
