The Team: Events is an area of strategic importance to News UK and a key growth area. Working across all the brands within the News UK family, the events team currently delivers 200+ events per year, delivering growing revenue to our business and significant value in terms of customer and client engagement.

Your Role: In this varied, fast paced and exciting role, you will be part of a key growth area for the business, working with the Marketing Lead on the event marketing for events across the News UK portfolio, and, working with senior stakeholders across the business. This role is suited to someone who has a passion for events (both consumer facing and B2B) and who has experience in delivering successful event marketing campaigns with a commercial  focus. 

Overview:

  • News UK Events Portfolio Marketing. Support marketing lead in creating and delivering the marketing strategies for both our B2B and B2C events across The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun and our Wireless brands with the main goal of delivering audiences for our varied events programme. This also includes delivering campaigns for our external event partners. Working with teams across the business to define and streamline processes that can then be easily managed & executed by the events delivery team.
  • Build our News UK Conferencing Capability. Support marketing lead in creating and delivering marketing plans to support existing and new B2B conferences for The Times and The Sunday Times. Data will be at the heart of this planning, identifying the right audiences for these events, recruiting new audiences and effectively managing our B2B event audience database. 
  • Audience Acquisition. Support of data acquisition strategy for all events, creating and delivering activity with the goal of growing our first party events data.
  • Build the profile of the News UK Event Business. Oversee all activity across platforms by managing all social media posts, PR and website updates etc. 

Day to Day: 

Project management of marketing campaigns for RunFestRun, Life Lessons Portfolio, and future B2C events. This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Budgetary control in conjunction with marketing lead.

  • Management of external marketing suppliers including paid digital management, print advertising.

  • Researching and booking of paid advertising e.g. print, outdoor advertising, paid partnerships etc.

  • Management of PR agency/ person to ensure strong media coverage - identifying USPs and key audiences. Helping agencies to ensure all press opportunities are met through chasing of speakers/ agents/ artists.

  • Ensuring all sponsor deliverables are fulfilled on time and within brand guidelines.

  • Recruitment and management of relationships with third-party partners to promote the festivals through competitions, editorial, advertorial, social coverage, online and print advertising.

  • Audience segmentation and email automation for Life Lessons, RunFestRun and other events teams.

  • Copywriting of festival promotional emails and newsletters, copy writing support for other event managers.

  • Managing of social media agency.

  • Management of content and layout on event and News Live Ltd website.

  • Working directly with artist management and labels to promote artists'/ Speakers appearances at events.

  • Regular reporting of ticket sales and marketing results to marketing lead. Researching solutions and continual improvements to the campaigns. 

What we’re looking for from you: 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate in-depth experience in both consumer and business events marketing as well as the following:

  • Excellent knowledge & practical experience of marketing successful ticketed & non-ticketed events.

  • Strong understanding of print, digital & social marketing as well as ticketing platforms and suppliers.

  • A B2B events background is essential including B2B audience recruitment, data segmentation and targeting.

  • Experience in a commercial marketing environment, ideally within events, as well as securing and delivering strategic marketing partnerships.

  • Experience in working with and developing an event CRM system.

  • Experience in working with editorial teams is preferable.

  • Proactive and able to work both as part of a team and independently with strong stakeholder management skills. 

  • Strong creative and copywriting skills with excellent research and analytical skills.

  • Advanced Word, Powerpoint and Excel skills with knowledge and experience in CMS, EMS, ExCel, Photoshop, Powerpoint, Canva.
