Become EachOther’s New Editor And Help Us Stand Up For Human Rights

About you

You will support people whose rights are threatened to tell their own stories whilst acting as custodian of our ethical editorial process. You will have an eye for detail and a commitment to helping us implement our organisational strategy in keeping with our core values. You will help us build our audience, our network and our impact.

You will be innovative and driven, with a love of social media and technology, the ability to work autonomously and a desire to develop further EachOther’s investigative and human rights journalism, contributing  enthusiastically to the cross-team working between our editorial and video teams.

Please note this is not an entry-level position. You will be expected to demonstrate a track record as a journalist, and ideally some experience as an editor.

About us

EachOther’s storytelling puts the human into human rights. We tell news stories that inform and personal stories that inspire, and, in doing so, we build public understanding and support for human rights. We hope that more people will then speak up for our rights when they are threatened, putting pressure on politicians to do the same. By creating the conditions for more people to stand up for their rights, we can defend our human rights architecture whilst cultivating a culture of human rights in the UK.

Rights protect everyone, so we strive to reach into every section of society. Our filmmaking and independent journalism generate a wide range of multimedia content on our website and social media channels to engage a host of different audiences. We empower those whose rights are endangered to tell their own inspirational stories. By amplifying their voices, we can help people connect across perceived divides. The challenge is greater in a time of social distancing and an era of virtual communication, but the aim of our work is to kindle empathy. That way, we can show we are not alone. We are EachOther.

About the application

We welcome applications from as diverse a field of candidates as possible. You do not need to live in London or in Glasgow (where EachOther’s two offices are located) to perform this role. However, as a charity that focuses on human rights in the UK, you would need to be UK-based.

We are committed to refreshing our EachOther family so that it better reflects our audience and we would particularly welcome applications from people from groups that are marginalised in society or underrepresented on our team.

Salary: £30,600 (gross) per annum

Company

The digital content we produce is grounded in the lived experience of ordinary people affected by human rights issues. We involve them in the process of developing their stories, rather than talking for or over them. Theirs are the voices we platform and amplify to our audience of over a million viewers each year. In this way, we hope to grow public support for human rights here in the UK.
