Newsweek is seeking a full-time Nature Reporter to join our London team.
The Nature Reporter will be able to source, pitch and write news and feature articles based around nature, animals, pets, the latest scientific research, and trending topics. They will have a strong understanding of digital journalism and the needs of a fast-paced newsroom.
They should be able to use social media and trending platforms to come up with original
articles, conduct interviews and forward-plan for events. They will craft engaging stories for an American audience.
Reporters with an interest/experience in certain areas should make this clear in their cover letter. While particular areas of interest are welcomed, the successful candidate will also be versatile and confident writing across a range of topics. The candidate does not need scientific qualifications, but an eye for scientific detail is an advantage.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality coverage that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism.
- Write several news stories per day
Pitch, research and write original stories and features
Check facts and sources and ensure content is of the highest possible standard
Work with editors to ensure your copy meets house style
- Detailed knowledge of nature, animals and pets topics
Experience in a reporting role for a reputable organization
Capable of working to tight deadlines
Must be able to work flexible hours
