Job Details
The Grocer is the UK’s biggest and most interesting business magazine, and we’re looking for a bright, experienced and ambitious B2B reporter to help us break major stories about the huge, fascinating, colourful and fast-changing food & drink grocery retail and wholesale sector.
The bible of the grocery retail market and the flagship title of the highly successful William Reed group, The Grocer is one of the UK’s most influential and high-profile business media publications, and has won countless awards for its campaigning and investigative approach in its 160 year history.
Amid systemic, political, technological, structural and consumer upheaval, this is a fascinating time to be reporting on the £200bn grocery sector.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be expected to engage in and uncover stories around how a host of grocery retailers and wholesalers (big and small) are adapting (or not) to the challenges and opportunities, including product shortages, online delivery, the death of the high street, the recovery of the out of home sector, as well as issues such as crime, technology, food waste, the environment, social media, veganism, product innovation etc.
In doing so you’ll be examining and uncovering crucial information on strategy and performance, hirings and firings, pricing and promo strategy, merchandising, service, availability and the supply chain, e-commerce, store design, property and planning, marketing and many more.
So tell us what you can offer and what you’re interested in and we’ll try to match your skills with our needs. This role will encompass a range of different responsibilities, but it starts with great journalism, landing exclusive news stories, writing in depth analysis, features, reports, profiles, blogs and video/audio content, across a range of topics.
Experience / Skills
- A demonstrable nose for news
