Division: Content

Department: Travel

Location: London - Hybrid Working (5-8 days per month in the office)

Job type: 6 Months FTC

We're looking for an online writer to join the Travel team, to play a key part in bringing our research to life and help it reach a wider audience.

Which? Travel is the UK's most trusted travel publication. We help holidaymakers get the most from their holiday; whether that's choosing the right Canary Island to impartial reviews of the best and worst airlines, car hire companies and travel agents.

What you’ll be doing

•           Write news stories and longer form articles that bring out the best from our unique research. And lead on contributing content to our subscriber newsletter.

•           Work with our content editor to interrogate analytics and identify gaps in our coverage to quickly capitalise on opportunities.

•           Work alongside our social media team to produce the right content for those channels.

What we are looking for

•           First and foremost you’ll be an excellent writer, with the ability to identify an angle and write a story that engages readers. We’re looking for someone with at least two years of experience writing for an online news or reviews website. You’ll be able to work at pace on reactive news stories, but also in detail on our longer investigative journalism pieces.

•           You’ll have experience in owning a content area and growing it successfully. We’re looking for someone who has a detailed understanding of SEO and analytics, ideally using programmes like SEMrush and Google Analytics.

•           Be able to regularly generate new ideas for content across multiple channels. We’re looking for someone who has shown innovation in delivering stories through social media, newsletters and other digital channels.

Nice to have

•           Knowledge of what interests holidaymakers and travellers and UK travel industry trends is advantageous, but you don’t need to be an expert yet.  More important is demonstrating how you have previously anticipated what an audience is interested in and produced content to address that interest.

•           Research experience, including experience of using various methodologies to develop a story.

About the rewards?

You get a competitive salary, 28 days' holiday, contributory pension, life assurance, private medical cover, health insurance, full Which? membership for free, 50% off making a will with Which? Wills.

About the Which? way of life?

We want you to do great work and enjoy it in a workplace that respects and empowers you. In 2019 we were a runner up in the medium-sized organisation category for Britain's Healthiest Workplace, and we signed up to the Time to Change employer pledge that protects staff against mental health discrimination. We're also a Stonewall accredited employer.

To apply please attach your CV and a short covering letter outlining why you would be a good fit.

At Which? we value diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone is able to be themselves and to reach their full potential. We want to receive applications from all regardless of age, gender identity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, social economic background. We believe that a diverse workforce helps us to understand and create a positive impact for consumers. We want to ensure that everybody can apply and be part of our recruitment processes, and therefore when required we make reasonable adjustments to accommodate our candidates.

Company

Working at Which? is all about balancing your expectations with ours – and that applies to everyone who works here. So what does this mean in practical terms? First of all, we’ll expect you to channel your ambition into growing our business and increasing our influence. We’ll also rely on you to stand up for what you believe in and have the courage to make the right calls.

In return, we’ll give you plenty of diverse opportunities at a company that’s growing, some great benefits and, most importantly, the chance to change peoples’ lives for the better. In short, if you can make a real difference to consumers and our members, we’ll make a real difference to your career. That way, everyone wins.
