SHOW Media, Deputy Chief Copy Editor

Are you a meticulous, organised and enthusiastic copy editor with a keen eye for detail and a flair for sparkling heads and sells? SHOW Media wants to hear from you. 

The luxury lifestyle creative agency is looking for a deputy chief sub editor to join its dynamic team to cover maternity leave. You should be a motivated self-starter with a genuine passion for copy editing with the ability to write content should the need arise.

SHOW works with a raft of luxury clients to deliver content that fits their specific brief across print, digital and social platforms. As part of this role, you will be responsible for deputising for the chief copy editor as well as managing occasional projects within the agency. You will sub print and digital articles, paying particular attention to fact-checking, grammar, spelling and punctuation, while maintaining the correct tone of voice for each publication or client as well as ensuring stylistic consistency throughout. You will create clever headlines, sells and captions including SEO headlines and sells for digital content, have an awareness of all live project deadlines and manage freelance staff when required.

Essential for the role: 

• Excellent command of the English language
• Have at least one year’s experience in a senior sub editor or deputy chief sub editor position on a monthly or weekly print title or similar agency experience
• Experience subbing digital content
• The ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to strict deadlines 
• Strong organisational skills 
• You should be comfortable being client facing where necessary – this includes attending briefing meetings and taking on feedback
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office, InDesign and CMS programmes
• You should be comfortable writing content when required, but this is primarily a sub editing position
• Be an enthusiastic team player as well as being able to work independently and with initiative
