We have an exciting opportunity for a digital content editor to join our dynamic marketing comms team and manage all aspects of our Influence blog site.

You will be responsible for sourcing and developing blog content, copy editing, and publishing high quality content on the topics that matter to the PR and comms profession.

You will be a skilled writer with strong editorial judgement and exceptional attention to detail, and you will be confident creating content for a range of channels - from blog stories to snappy and engaging social posts.

You’ll oversee the everyday maintenance of the Influence website and will be responsible for driving site traffic through social media and email activity.

We’re a small but fast paced team with a wide remit, so we’re looking for someone who will be happy to work independently within a friendly and supportive environment. If you are looking for a varied and rewarding role and you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in, this is a role that you could really make your own.

This is a 12-month contract initially but Influence is a growing platform so there is fantastic potential for this role to evolve and become longer-term.

  • Publish blogs on the Influence CMS
  • Quality control of website content – making sure all content is up to date or archived
  • Draft, build and send the Influence weekly email round-up in Mailchimp – always looking to improve open and click rates
  • Write and schedule/send daily tweets to promote the latest blogs
  • Use Google Analytics to monitor site traffic and understand the content that is most valued, and use this data to inform content commissioning
  • Work closely with the marketing comms team to drive traffic to the site and grow the email subscriber list
  • Liaise with advertisers to host banner ads on the site and in email campaigns
  • Act as liaison between the CIPR, the Influence e-zine Editor and the Influence Editorial Board
  • Attend quarterly Editorial Board meetings for the e-zine
  • Act as an ambassador for the CIPR and the Influence brand

  • Well-organised and self-motivated – happy to work on own initiative without supervision

About Influence

Influence is our quarterly member-exclusive e-zine and a blog site that is open to the wider profession.

The e-zine
Founded in 2016, Influence magazine quickly established itself as a leading voice in the public relations and communications sector. Rather than focus solely on the world of PR, Influence is a business magazine with a comms slant. Positive and playful in tone, Influence seeks out the stories behind the news to find how public relations has helped shape the world around us.

Previously a print magazine, Influence has recently become an e-zine and is published on a website, where its traditional features are enhanced by video and other media.

The blog site
The blog site currently sits alongside the e-zine on a separate domain, featuring content that is contributed by authors from a variety of backgrounds – CIPR members, academics, PR consultants and marketers.

The future of Influence
It’s an exciting time for Influence as we’re working on a project to fuse the blog site with the e-zine to create one home for Influence content online. The e-zine content is produced by a freelance editor and will remain accessible to members only.

About the CIPR
The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) is the world's only Royal Chartered professional body for public relations practitioners in the UK and overseas with nearly 10,000 members.

The CIPR advances professionalism in public relations by making its members accountable to their employers and the public through a code of conduct and searchable public register, setting standards through training, qualifications, awards and the production of best practice and skills guidance, facilitating Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and awarding Chartered Public Relations Practitioner status (Chart.PR).

The CIPR is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

Interviews will be held virtually during WC 17 January.
