EDITOR - West Essex Life

We have a part-time opportunity for an Editor to join us on our Lifestyle magazine brand, West Essex Life. West Essex Life magazine and its website are packed with features about this dynamic part of England – from people and places to homes and interiors and food and drink.   

As Editor of this premium free distribution magazine brand, you will have responsibility for producing content for our print and digital products, commissioning copy, forward planning and making the right commercial decisions for the magazine and its readers. 

As Editor you will be involved in all aspects of creating the content for this stylish lifestyle magazine. You will meet and interview fantastic people, create great features and attend events throughout the area, while supporting the brand’s commercial imperatives. 

The role calls for strong organisational skills and an appreciation of the benefits of clear planning and strong communication skills, with both internal and external teams. You will have a real understanding of what makes West Essex tick, with strong writing skills and an appreciation of what appeals to our target audience. 

This permanent part-time opportunity is offering 30 hours a week to be worked to suit.  You will be work and be based from home, but it’s important you live in or close to West Essex to meet with clients, the wider team and attend events. 


  • Proven editorial experience in print and digital  
  • A background in magazines or lifestyle pages on a newspaper 
  • Great commercial awareness 
  • Experience in writing features and commissioning copy 
  • Strong networking skills 
  • Full driving licence 


  • Salary £20,800 (for 30 hours)
