Reporter - IFR

International Financing Review (IFR) is seeking a reporter to join its Europe, Middle East and Africa equity capital markets team in London. Covering the major ECM activity across the region from pre-mandate through pricing to the aftermarket. Issuance has accelerated through the coronavirus pandemic with the annual record for EMEA IPOs already broken in 2021, making for an exciting and diverse area of coverage.

The Reporter - IFR will join a close-knit team responsible for ECM coverage across various IFR platforms with real-time and weekly deadlines. The cornerstone of coverage is the European ECM Briefing delivered to clients each evening that is the established newsletter for ECM. You will build strong relationships with market participants, be confident dealing with senior bankers and able to explain deals and market trends clearly and accurately.

The role would suit an enthusiastic reporter capable of identifying new information and fresh angles on a competitive beat.

Main Responsibilities : 

  • Write stories with accuracy and speed and in accordance with our principles and operating standards
  • Gather information to break news and write stories
  • Build and maintain a set of contacts to break news.
  • Build expertise and knowledge to broaden and deepen coverage.
  • Identify news relevant to clients
  • Embrace the principle of telling stories using the most appropriate media available


Essential Skills/Experience Required: 

  • At least two years’ journalism experience is required, unless the candidate has direct experience of working in equity capital markets functions for at least five years
  • Strong English skills and the ability to communicate quickly and clearly are essential 
  • Experience covering financial markets is highly desirable
  • Fluency in a relevant foreign language is an advantage
